ULEZ compliance checker by reg now online

Postby stephendell » Mon Nov 26, 2018 1:12 am

Previously you needed the logbook to check if your car was ultra low emissions zone compliant now you can just enter the reg:

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra- ... ecker-ulez

This is central london 24/7 from April 2019 and Greater London (north south circular roads) from October 2021

And a few surprises:

Vel satis 3.5V6 ancient gas guzzler EXEMPT

Smart 599cc eco box NON COMPLIANT

Avantime EXEMPT

Clio V6 NON COMPLIANT

Vel satis 2.0T EXEMPT

These are much older cars than the expected 2006 cut off so Renault must have been on the ball with emissions since around 2002.

So the two cars I left in town are non compliant and all the ones I moved out (except the van) that I expected to be non compliant are all exempt!

You are still pretty much screwed with anything diesel though before 2016.

Does this mean that we need to find a new venue for (the occasional) "Monthly" meet ups that's outside the ULEZ zone (assuming that Ace will be in the zone)?
No Classic alps are ULEZ complaint. Fortunately for me the 2004 Smart Roadsters are , but not my normal car as its Diesel. Kids now have another excuse not to go and see their grandparents too....

How will this work if someone has re engineered their vehicle to comply? See the Nissan V6 is compliant so had, for example, Brett Dundas completed his once planned Clio v6 conversion to this engine, would he then have a compliant Clio V6?
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

It looked like there was an enguiry/appeals page......but there will always be many anomalies.
We all know it's not "fair" for everyone but no one will complain about exempt vehicles which should be paying.
£12.50 per day, on a 24/7 basis, not office hours like the congestion charge.

The checker says my Clio V6 is OK surprisingly.
VW Up is ok but the polar bear destroying RX-7 is not OK, as expected

Sounds like phase 2 V6 is ok then.

I’ll have to look into that, mine was registered early in 2002 so maybe it’s down as a phase 1
