I have started to look at the connections from the speed sensor end. The connections on the plug on the inner wing look reasonable and do not appear to be corroded. I have cleaned them switch cleaner and put them back together. I then examined the speed sensor itself !!! How do you remove the sensor from the gearbox? I removed the retaining clamp and tried to pull it out but it seems solid!!!
Does anyone know the easiest way to remove it?

Also when I looked at the sensor, there appeared to be a small ferrule which seemed to have come loose from the sensor and was loose on the cable. When I fealt the wire coming out from the sensor the cable covering didn't feel complete and I am wondering whether the ferrule which I think has come loose from the sensor is allowing the cables to flex too much - Anyone out there with any knowledge if this ferrule should be attached to the sensor???

I have pushed it back into the sensor and the speedo was working OK, only to cut out momentarily again !!!

I want to work methodically through the system - if this is possible!!! The instrument panel connectors will be next.

Any more comments will be most welcome. :(
