Right, removed the engine, subframe and box today on the floor with the use of a cheap 1 Ton engine crane and 4 castor wheel trolley (normally do it on a 4 poster ramp)
All the usual bits removed, (linkage, coolant pipes, calipers, reverse lockout, loom, rear bumper supports, rear silencer etc)
Car up on axle stands/jacks with all 6 main bolts removed - wheels off
Sat the trolley under the engine/subframe and lowered the car down on to it...
Undone top strut mounts...
Then removed the rear spoiler grille, and looped a length of seatbelt webbing connected to the engine hoist (set at full length) through the small vent holes that breath into the spoiler engine bay. This is fibreglass but very thick here and no undesireable noises were heard. The rear of the car can be lifted by two people so this gives an idea of the weight at the back...
Hoisted the whole car up in the air around half a metre. Then sat it on axle stands at full extension at the normal jacking points, pulled out the whole engine/box/subframe.. There is no worry of the car tipping back with out the engine in. Did it on my breaker with no front end at all, no fuel in the tank and no interior, so much less frontal weight that normal)
Took around 3 hours start to finish (with some helping hands)
