Help whith thread sizes,

Postby gt5 » Mon Jan 23, 2006 6:38 pm

Can anyone help regarding thread sizes for a NOS intercooler spray bar? i am wanting 900mm of braided hose with fittings, I sent the spray bar and solonoid to Goodridge, guess what? they didnt have the correct size fittings:-(
What they have said that i need is -4 hose? female 1/8" NPT fitting (to fit the spay bar) and a 1/8" Male NPT to fit into the solonoid,
Whats confusing me is most of the nitrous sites that i have been on supply the hose with a 3AN? female to a 1/8NPT male, Is the 3AN fitting correct to screw onto the thread of the spray bar (1/8" NPT according to Goodridge)
Lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:-(

900 mm hose, fitting on both ends, one end to connect to the male 1/8" NPT thread on the spray bar, the other to the female 1/8" NPT tread on the solonoid.

Hope that makes sense, phew what a day :(

Really doing my head in this one :( I sent the spray bar and solonoid off to Goodridge, they confirmed that the hose i need is -4 the fitting to the spray bar is a female 1/8" NPT with a Male on the other end to the solonoid a male 1/8" NPT fitting

Whats confused me is on this site nine items down, is it saying that the 1/8" NTP male thread on the spray bar is the same as a 3an fitting,

Think i have it sorted, threads----what a pain :) Don't know if this is of interest? hopefully weather permitting ill try and fit mine this weekend, the one that's getting fitted to the GTA is nitrous, so hopefully it should run cooler then the Cry02 kit, Good gains on the RS Turbo considering it already as a efficient intercooler http://www.designengineering.com/images ... eFord2.pdf Article from Performance Ford

Reading that article, the CRo2 gives an extra 50%, which was measured as an 8bhp gain. So the intercooler only started life by giving 16bhp to start with. Seems quite small really! But a temerature of nearly 38 C down to 30 C sounds good, I suppose that is our 1 deg C for each BHP !

should look promising for the gta, when it eventually goes on the rollers i will get him to do a before and after test should gain more than 8bhp as im using nitrous which is far colder than co2 :)

ROLLERS? you don't want to do that. just guess the approx BHP you think you should gain x2 and then quote it!

much easier than the hassle of a RR!
