They'd probably want to inspect it....

After stripping a GTA engine I found the actual stamped no under the inlet manifold in the V, but I doubt this could be seen with the car assembled. Yes, the no is on the RH head, but I doubt the rego office would accept that or the alloy plate.

I could suggest to you that there is a nice little vertical machined section at the rear RHS of the lower section of the block that the correct engine no could be applied to save hassles. It would be doubtful that the rego people would know the main block is in two pieces.

Is this a car you brought in yourself, or is it one of Steve Ks?

Several of my GTAs have VF1 instead of VFA on the logbook (not sure why?), but definately not XXX

Vf1 is almost as bad as XXX. I'll await the findings of the dept of roads and then have to do whatever they require.

It's one i bought in myself Alan, I heard you were at the NSW concourse and your car is wonderful, i was hoping mine would be on the road by then, but alas.... You have been helping me on ozifrogs.

All three cars I have been involved with have VF1 instead of VFA on their papers, the trouble being Aust Customs take a dim view of you trying to bring in a car with a different No than that applied for.

You see that the Vehicle Identification No (VIN) has to be quoted on the Import application before the car even leaves your fair shores, but it all turns pear shaped if the Nos don't match, it can mean a long stay at the shipping agent at $30 a day until the paperwork is correct.
