Yes, been setting up the triple carbs on the car for about 6 months now! Fine tuning, adjust mixture screw/ drive for 20 miles/ check plug colour... and start again.... Was amazed when the carbs were set to very lean running how bad the Mpg was, as low as maybe 12, seems that to richen the mix have to turn the double ones IN and the single OUT!!! took me a while to realise that
well I got the car now doing about 18 urban and maybe 26 on a run odd, acceptable I guess..... just wondered what experience other have had of seeting these carbs up, they seem really sensitive and if 1/4 a turn out can totally throw the whole running of the car.... The doubles are nearly screwed all the way in maybe an 1/8th of a turn out, if that .... what about the single carb? hmmn, seem difficult to set up to me as there is 3 of them that don't all work together..... ??
well, is it a wise idea to put the thing on a tuning jig/ and pay 150 squids in the process, or am I doing the right thing trying to learn/ set it up myself? I don't often trust so called 'professionals', as the saying goes 'if you want a job done properly then do it yourself'. Cynical somewhat but maybe true?!!
