North Wales + Lake District = great fun

Postby A610beaver » Sun Jul 20, 2008 6:08 pm

2 days of fantastic roads and faultless performance from the A610.

Saturday saw 3 of us in the A610 off to North Wales with the final destination of Portmeirion. Fantastic roads and the bad weather kept most of the traffic off the road.

Sunday and we were off to the Lake District. More great roads but the traffic was heavier, the overtaking capability of the Alpine really coming into it's own.

I had a nice conversation with the owner of a beautifully restored DB6 in the Portmeirion car park. He had spent 8 years restoring his pride and joy only to have a woman in a 4x4 run into it in his 1st week on the road and then it was off the road again for another 3 months whilst it was sorted.

I won't be able to make it that weekend but envy those of you who will. I hope the roads are dry for you

The road from Beddgelert up to the A5 is fantastic as is the A470 after Betws-y-Coed heading to Ffestiniog although that does have a strange 30mph zone at one point which looks like it is set up for a speed trap. I did see some of the revenue collectors en route but I spotted them before they spotted me.

Drive carefully.
