A sad day

Postby silverdreammachine » Fri Aug 29, 2008 10:01 pm

My Silverdreammachine has sold and gone to its new owner this evening. It left me in true Renault Alpine style, having been faithful and reliable for the best part of 5000 miles over three years of ownership, I reversed it out of the lock up, showed the new owner around the car, explaining how to open the rear hatch for access to the engine, did so and was greated by a horrendous smell of fuel. Yes, you guessed it! A split fuel pipe peeing petrol all over the engine! 40 minutes later it was sorted between us with new pipe in place and he has made it home safely to Princes Risborough and is very happy with his new acquisition. The guys name is Matt Denton and I am sure we will see him visiting the forum and hopefully joining the club.
I will not be turning my back on you guys having sold the car, it has been a pleasure owning it (it fulfilled the dreams I had from 20 years ago and lived up to them) and I have enjoyed being part of the club. I have every intention of buying an A610 next but it will have to wait until the work on our house is completed and we have a new property with suitable garaging. Martin, if you haven't sold that yellow A610 bumper in the next 18 months, you never know, I might be taking it off your hands
Thanks guys, I miss her all ready and it's only been 4 hours!

I remember how sad I was when I sold my first GTA. It wasn't long before I ended up buying another. That was many years ago and the A610 bug just kept on eating away at me.

Look on the bright side, it will let someone else enjoy it whilst your distracted with other priorities and you can get another when you are ready.

I should have read this before I started my own thread

Thanks Ashley, yes I made it home safe and sound. The car is great and a credit to you. As we said at the time I'm glad you found the leak before I left.

Hopefully you could tell I don't mind getting my hands dirty/blooded :D and safe to say your silverdreammachine and I have started our relationship the way we mean to go on

I'll keep in touch :)

Oh dear, never mind young Ashley. At least it's gone to a good home by the looks of things and a GTA got a fair price for a change

You'll be back soon, take care.

Oh and the 610 bumper is sold, need to update the ad.

Thanks Guys,
You're all right of course, the car has gone to someone I know will look after it and enjoy it and for a fair price as well. I am missing it all ready, despite getting the Stag on the road with the hood down. It's enjoyable but I miss my 'boost!' Have no doubt I will see you all somewhere on a 'meet', even if it isn't in an Alpine.
