TURBO2: paint codes, again!

Postby tub2 maxi » Tue Nov 18, 2008 6:18 pm

hi, new to this forum but feel i am among friends already! my T2 is waiting in the paint shop for some loving but am bit confused with paint codes. it is pearl white and in mr meaney's book it is 015 of which there are 2 shades, looking through past forums i have seen it listed as 168 and also 158 which we could not find on our scheme. want to get it right 1st time as paint not cheap. im sure this is an age old question and i wonder if anyone can put me straight?
on a more technical side, new turbo is looking like GT25/60 with external wastegate anyone perfected a way of linking up water system to turbo as it is oil and water fed? or shall i stick with T3 set up?[/img]Image

If you look at the GTA paint codes:

http://www.renaultalpineownersclub.com/paint_codes.htm

You can see they were using 168 in '86 and not using 015 until '90.

They were painted in the same factory so I'm guessing the earlier code would be the more likely.
Trafic, Twingo GT, Vel Satis Turbo x 2, Clio V6 Proto Ph2, Vel Satis 3.5, Avantime, Alpine A610, GTA Atmo x 3, GTA Turbo x 3, R5 Gordini Turbo Mid Engine, Alpine A310 4cyl, Alpine A110, Yellow Smart

looking like biased towards 168 then, would a T2 handbook clarify? the spray up card for 168 just looked a bit dark, although the metalic/pearl was a 100% match. meaneys book just thrown a curve ball in with his version of code.
what about trim matching, i am having hell of a time trying to match up for new footwell trim, coz me missus in brace mode put a high heel through!!

:D aah someone with same mind set, i love the old school delivery but i just know there is a bit more punch with modern turbo. external wastegate not a problem now, primary design are going to modify my 4-1 manifold and turbo technics can weld up wastegate on T3, they also developing a roller bearing insert for our style T3 bodies but will just need nudging by people like us! i think to go down water cooled route, we would have to T off water system, think heater matrix style, just not sure how flow will cope? have seen ally T-piece on 3S web site, i just dont feel like being guinea pig at the moment, what with a budget tighter than the NHS! any turbo gurus out there?
