Forced induction odd fire?

Forced induction odd fire?

I'm still looking for inspiration for an engine for a track/drag GTA and wondered weather it was worth using some forced induction on an odd fire 2.8. I have 2 of these engines (although not sure how good either is). The Venturi 260 used this size anybody know what they did. Wondered what one would go like with some aftermarket injection and a supercharger. What do ya reckon?

I believe Mr Faulks has some super duper heads for an atmo project.

Only problem is making sure that the ECU you buy can handle odd fire, not all of them can. (Adaptronic can by the way)

Odd verses Even

Mr Faulks advised me that the odd fire has a higher comp ratio than an even fire, so maybe the later even fire PRV would be better suited to forced induction, plus you dont have to worry about the ECU issue either with a wider range of ECU's to choose from.

Hi Tony,

Venturi used the steel even fire crank, but this is available in 2 different stroke lengths to accommodate euro tax categories, and hence the option of the slightly smaller capacity.

I guess it comes down to the category limits of the racing you want to do, this may limit your choices, as you obviously want to be competitive.

As an all out forced induction racer, where you are going to be on max power and max revs for a significant time, the steel crank would be my choice. However, I think the odd fire can be a really nice setup for an atmo until with dual-purpose usage, and pound for pound should be good fun and nice grin factor. Full on race you need to be looking at a cross bolt block and steel even fire crank.

Venturi 260 engine is a Z7U with 73mm crank and bespoke pistons and larger injectors, different ECU. That's about it.
