How about shortening the pipes on the matrix so they don't go through the bulkhead and can then can come out inside the car?
Could you make it watertight afterwards?

Just a thought

Clee, you forgot to add 'and after you've bought him beers all night long'!

Or is it just me that would expect this before telling anyone anything useful (....if I ever knew anything useful!).

I don't think there is a Pub with enough beers to lossen his tongue Andy .

Anyway I'm now on to taking the manifold off to replace all the water pipes there also ...watch him pop up and laugh ..

Fair enough - I can understand not wanting to publish 'trade' secrets but personally, I like to know what's going to happen to my car in the process and how things will end up when it's all done, especially if it's not the 'by the book' approach. That's not to say that I think that there's a dodgy solution going on here but I'd need some reassurance about what's involved before making a trip to Belfast! ;)

I'd considered trimming the matrix pipes off on the inside of the bulkhead to get the old matrix out, doing the same on the new matrix and then use short hoses to fit the new matrix to the old through-the-bulkhead pipes but IIRC there's not much pipe available for that!

In fact, I was impressed, Lee, that you'd got all that out without removing the centre console (something that I believe the manual says you have to do - but we all know manuals don't always describe the best approach). That looked like a definite pre-requisite when I was last looking at all this.

Thankfully, so far I have not needed to go to this stage.
