AARRGGHHH!!!! Turbo Problem! Help PLEASE!!

Postby LiamMcShane » Sun Apr 01, 2012 9:04 pm

Hi Guys,
long time since I've been on the forum, and an even longer time (nearly 2 years) since I've had my car on the road (long story - no funds, needed a heater matrix and a few other bits), but I've just got it all sorted, ready for MOT.

The problem is I took it out today to make sure all is working as it should and everything was going great apart from a bit of a miss when it got warmed up (I'm expecting that's the distributor as I'm prob on my 4th one at this stage), then all of a sudden the turbo stopped boosting! I had done around 20 miles before this happened.
I had a bit of a quick look around and there are no pipes off, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas? Please don't tell me the turbo is sha99ed!!! It would be more than I can take!!!

BTW, anyone driven a GTA Turbo with the turbo not working? Man is it slow!

You may find that the reason for you having no boost is that the waste gate actuator rod has come off. It is only held on by a spring clip. When this happens the waste gate is left wide open and therefore the car builds up no boost.

Check the small rubber hose to the plenum. There's two - if one is split you'll lose all boost, but I can't remember which
I'm just here for the gasoline.
