Hi - GTA Turbo C33 WRK under new roof

Postby nationofzeros » Sat Nov 11, 2017 9:09 pm

Hi all

Just to say 'hello' - I have purchased metallic blue C33 WRK from Paul, who has been a splendid seller, and enjoyed a memorable blast from Wiltshire back to South Gloucester in it, through the seasonal murk this afternoon

C33 WRK is the ex Renault press car that featured in a primeval episode of Top Gear, amongst other outings. It is in great original condition, I believe after extensive open heart surgery at RATS

I have a bit of Gallic 'previous' in that I owned a red GTA Turbo (E800 EPG from memory) as my daily drive in the early 90s, and then had a RHD Le Mans in the garage (#17 or #18, I can never remember, but it has been at the NEC a few times since) alongside a blue Sport Spider, for a while - an iconic combination.

C33 WRK brings all those memories flooding back - telepathic steering, sorted, compliant, arrow-like stability on all surfaces, effortless overtaking oomph when the engine is in the zone, and so on. Love it !

Look forward to getting into the Dieppe scene again - I understand that parts are a little bit more scarce this time round ! Apologies for any simplistic questions in future posts - I will try to deploy the 'search' functionality first

Thanks in advance

Chris

Welcome back Chris!

Congrats on the purchase, that's a lovely GTA you now have.

Are you the same Chris I remember reading about in an old Le Journal magazine who heroically drove his Spider to meet some family members one Christmas through the snow?

Good to see another one of the press fleet survives, must be one of the earliest numbered right hand drive cars that. Have one of the Atmo press cars D777BLX.
Alpines - GTA 3.0 Turbo, GTA 3.0 Inj (Project DD), GTA 6.2 V8 (500 bhp) , R32 Skyline GTR, BMW Alpina B10 635 Highline, Alpina B10 E39 5 Series, Jaguar 4.2 XKR, Laguna 205GT, BMW 120d.

Hi...thanks for your kind comments. Yes, I am 'that' Chris - the good news is that the frostbite has just about worn off now, although I still get 'flashbacks' once in a while...

Hi Lee

Good to hear. Paul spoke very highly of your ministrations and they have stood the test of time - thanks !

Look forward to meeting up sometime,
