Vorndron A610 now sold

Hi Folks

The previously mentioned Mike Vorndron A610 has been sold. I saw Mike in work today and he told me he has sold his A610. For those who don't the car it is a Mid metallic blue with blue leather, RHD, formally in a collection in I think Singapore, around 4000 miles and top condition. Price £44000 in a private sale.

Nice result so that sets the ceiling for current A610 prices. Mike was ultra particular and he only swopped his previous good as new green A610 for the blue one as it was better. I remember when the green car went for servicing he put it on a spare set of wheels to avoid any possible wear and tear. He’s had it a while now and it was expensive at the time £20k+ When the average car was £10k or less.

Did he say if he had bought anything new interesting? New A110 perhaps?

Yes, this A610 came from a car collection in Singapore. I know then when Mike purchased this car it needed some recommissioning to make it fully roadworthy again along with changing the speedometer from KMH to MPH.
Mike was a member of C.A.R and at that time I was able to get some photographs of the car. These were taken some years ago now but I'm glad I kept them...!

No to a new A110 afraid. He told me he will now turn his full attention to and rebuild/restore his second generation Lotus Elan, the ones with FWD and an Izuzu engine.

By the way he also let a set of perfect A610 / Spider wheels go with the car as well as the turbines fitted to it as part of the deal.

I don't know the who the new owner is, Mike didn't say but apparently he had been "chasing" Mike for a few years to buy it off him.

The new owner was Gordon McLean who has a very nice car collection. He loves ultra low miles cars and bought it to sell. After a brief spell in ACL it was sold on commission and is now with new owner Chris.
