Good point, I was thinking the same today....

There were around 350 Turbos' and 250 Atmos I think, maybe half that left? Specialist breakers in Accrington where I was yesterday have had 15 over the last few years....

It is probably best coming from the club president, but I have heard that the DVLA will release some details to car clubs. Big problems with data protection though.

Tim Jeffrey, chairman of CAR, claims to know where nearly all the RHD A610's are, but I don't know if his equivalent registrar knows the GTA count.

Right got the info from my source at the SMMT (The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Limited).

It's very interesting to say the least and makes for worrying reading, these were figures correct as at 31/12/2005 that are currently registered with the DVLA so there are even fewer left now due to write offs etc

Renault GTA V6 "ATMO" 77

Renault GTA V6 Turbo 162

A610 Turbo 43

Got the info on numbers registered in a particular year going back to 1991, so I will try and get info for the earlier models in the 80's.

So am I correct in thinking that these numbers are only back to '91. If so that would explain the low numbers as most of the GTAs were built and registered in mid to late 80s. Beyond that the numbers shrank quite rapidly.

Nope that's your lot. For example there was 1 GTA Turbo registered in 1995(probably an import and not a M/N reg) and 1 registered in 1993(Gold L reg one), 8 in 1991 then 152 pre 1991.

ATMO's there was 1 in 1999(Again an Import), 3 in 1992 (I used to own one of these), 3 in 1991 and 70 pre 1991.

:(

Can you flip the search round and find out how many have been removed from the database (ie written off) each year?

It'd be interesting to know the rate of attrition for each year :(

They would have to be declared as 'scrapped' to be removed from the database though...
