What have i done :-)

Postby steveatyork » Mon Jul 12, 2010 7:01 pm

I ended up selling a few of the cars due to lack of time to use them. was really sad to see the TR7V8 been trailered away, lots of time and money went into it all for the need of speed  My Blue TR7 16V also went, owned it for 10 years :( So it was the T2 parked all on its own in the garage. i kept having thoughts on a Spider, but having owned one it didnt seem the right thing to go and buy another. + i kept trying to convince myself NO MORE CARS!!!!!!!!!
Then after seeing a add for somthing me and the other half really fancied 15 years ago it was to much.... the gremlins in my head got the better of me :)
The one we fancied 15 years ago was a new Mantis, the dealer would even let the wife sit in it, The one we have ended up with isnt a Mantis but a LM500, Back to V8's not as fast as the TR7V8 (which was well sorted by V8 Developments) but fast enough. Diferent as chalk & cheese compairing to the T2

Stunning but would be even nicer with a carbon dash or black wood.

The Venturis also had the wood/carbon option and I think the carbon dash looks better.

Maybe just me but I have a real aversion to wood in cars generally, especially the chassis!

You cant beat a bit or walnut :) Chassis is steel & they can rust :( plenty of waxoil
The previous owner had it since it was a year old, A big bloke with lots of money  he's just bought a Aston, There's more room in a LM then you would think, LOTS of leg room, the only thing im not keen on is the driving position.....no seat adjustment, the pedals are flash :) two buttons to adjust them one for forward n one for back  .....very laid back driving position, suppose it would help if i wasn’t a short asp, re; seeing over the bonnet :) Lots of Ford stuff on them
This ones fitted with the 5.0 NCK Rover V8, Supposed to be 320BHP i would guess more like 280ish, Not to heavy at 1100KG, I think there were about 15 made with this engine.
Its different.....................

I didn't mean your car (except the dash!) ... Morgans etc.

Mini and Minor travellers also.

Drove a Mantis on Friday by coincidence. Had a 5.0 American lump with a competion clutch which was a little on the heavy side. Worst thing was how hot my left leg got as the engine is so close to the tunnel. By Monday night I had bought a 3.5 Mantula with stage 2 cams (read lumpy idle) a rear roll cage and in desperate need of a respray.

Not yet but will post up as soon as I get some. Decided to insure it today so will drive it home rather than trailer it. Cheque has to clear before collection so a week I guess.
