My Fleet is insured with R&H as a multi car policy.... that's all 6 cars with agreed valuation, last year £560 fully comp.... renewal has just come in £780!!! They have always been great, they don't mind swapping over cars and they do offer european breakdown..... I will have to call around to see if I can get it for less........

I was going to try Footman james, but from the sounds of things they seem to be a waste of time.....

Can you remember who the actual insurer is? If I can steer them to the insurer then it might help.

I've now got Footman James down to £295 for 1500 miles by adding my wife to the policy which is crazy when you consider she will never drive it and every car claim we've had in the past (all more than 8 years ago) has been with her behind the wheel.

That does sound reasonable.Do you have any modern cars in that fleet or is that only classics. I'm going to give them a try anyway. £560 hiked to £780 is not far off a normal increase if you stay with the same company from last year to this but they will probably drop it a bit if they realise you are shopping around.

Just checked and it's underwritten by Brit Insurance. That was with full UK Breakdown cover as well. The insurance is with my wife on it also, it was quite a bit cheaper adding her on as it happens.

Most Motor insurers have been losing money on mainstream motor for quite a few years now, and not making money on classic cover, so it's all going up.
I was with AON classic 2 years ago but they then merged their 2 units under the footman james logo and the price for my (then) two A310s increased by over 30%. So I looked around and ended up with a much cheaper deal than previously with Peter S Taylor & Co (part of bishop calway). worth checking - www.peterstaylor.co.uk

So are you guys with traders policies - actually traders? I thought you needed to have some evidence of trading to be eligable for one.

So don't the BiB give you hassle as your cars won't be on the Motor Insurers Database will it? Or am I missing something?

I've cetainly got enough gear at home to look like I'm a trader! (gear as it compressor, engine crane, welder etc - not drugs)
