Ahhh, so as the smaller capsule below has a tube going to it the perhaps at some time the tube has been taken off the boost sensor and put on the smaller capsule by mistake?

Seems a reasonable assumption  It would then be open to atmosphere though so effectively a big leak which may explain your boost issues :?:

I'll change it and let you know what happens but I'm not sure that small capsue is open ended.

It is open ....3 mm diameter through hole to tapped diameter in rear . Vac feed for something on other cars .It is welded to the mount bracket .

Ok, swapped the lines over from the small capsule to the larger boost gauge sender and did away with my temporary T piece. More eager now and less lag but slightly inconsistent. My new device arrived today so I fitted that and now I get consistent boost and better spool up. Happy days. Now to sort the handling.

Car getting better and better along with my understanding of it's character and how to get the best from it. I enjoy getting to know a new car and some give more than others and for me this car rates highly. I fitted the Dawes device which I set initially with a Mityvac at 11psi as a starting point but it seems doing this doesn't work in practice as it was too high and the over boost cut in. After a couple of tries I ended up happy and a much more constant boost pressure with better spool up so very pleased. I chose an inline device but should have gone for a 90 degree type that has a adjustment wheel rather than having to twist the body of the device. I guess once set it won't need doing again so no big issue really.

Boost cut brick wall - that is why it's so satisfying to lift the dead cut and really enjoy the unleashed potential. Both Will's and Jon's cars are running 20 psi, albeit more efficient compressors that OE, but still :-)

Is it safe to run that sort of pressure? Are they running bigger intercoolers or a charge cooler? Car seems to go quite well as it is but I have nothing to compare it with so not sure if it's up to scratch although I do think its not 100pc clean in the ignition. I haven't had chance to look at this yet.

It's safe if the ECU is modified  For the Renix mod we now have 4 cars running in various stages and half a dozen on Adaptronic 8)

http://www.renaultalpinetuningservices. ... gineering/

Will's car was running std intercooler which is to be fair is not that good .He has a 610 unit to install that will make things a lot cooler .We also need to increase injectors now as running at max duty and not enough .

Jon has a PWR chargecooler that does work very well although I've had to install it in the rear of the car as with A/C and ABS systems there is no room up front .

I've just finished another car that is soon to be tested .320cc injectors ,larger blower + chargecooler plumbed in with rad/fan and pump up front end .
It also has a set of higher lift cams + low comp pistons with total seal rings

Thanks for all that info and links. Sounds like you are having great results. I'm going to live with the car for a short while and see if I like it enough to keep and from there can decide what I want and how far I want to go. At the moment it's a road car with 1 or maybe 2 track days a year so it's the suspension and the turret work I need before reaching a corner any quicker :-).

Will's is getting a Faulksie special turbo upgrade from the current T3 Super 60, doing it whilst I build up the LTH w/shop boys turbo for GP50 :-)

Here's a plot of the last performance run. The dyno run was cut as you can see at 4500 rpm, and the hp was still climbing nicely, the operator felt it was leaning out. It was, but having had a look when I dropped off my gearbox at Will’s dad to go to Mach 1 and picking up the turbo, there was also another issue not related to the injectors which is now sorted. Anyway, plot here, so next time out should be to get a comparison and see where we are now with it :-)
