I'm pretty certain its 77 00 692 252 but I'll check on the packet when I get home tonight. The on line list at Renault only has one part, where as the parts book lists 3 the other two are substituted by the remaining one.

Tony- how did you get on with yours?

77 00 721 244 is the number in the Alpine Parts Book, but I just got a 2Litre Fuego one which was easily available here from an aftermarket supplier.

The 77 00 692 252 is the right number (on the pack of the one fitted). I wonder what the difference is to the Fuego- maybe not so tight! I couldn't get mine on with pliers, so it might be a smart move to use a Fuego one if you don't want the hassle that I went through.

The multigrips I used to push the bush in were large 16" ones, and it was still a struggle. I definately couldn't make it fit when I fitted the bush to the outer first and tried to push it over the ball.

I was so convinced that it must have been the wrong size that I cut it in half and found it fitted over the ball perfectly, so I bought another and got it done by putting it over the ball first. I also used a bit of rubber grease to ease the fitment.

I also took off the bracket held by two bolts that fits into the gearbox mount to give more room to move. Still an awkward job. Have fun.

Bush fitment

My mate John came up trumps with fitting the bush from beneath the car.

The tool to use is a metal sealant dispenser gun, with a piece of wood stuck to the top.
Will get John to attach a picture later.

Thanks to John and his ingenuity.

Similar story foor me the other day I'm afraid. Was out for a long run on a perfect autumn day but halfway home lost ability to select any gears. Lucky it was stuck in thirs as I was able to limp home.

It's the bush that holds the long gear selector arm (one that operates north/south) to the ball at the gearbox.

The old black rubber bush is still there but the sleeve of the gear selector arm just slips over it.

I've already got a replacement nylon bush but looking at the parts book there's another part that looks like a sleev or spacer that sits between the ball and the selector arm sleeve. It's part number 77 00 721 254.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I can't see how it would fit.

Isn't that an alternative part- the cross means there are alternatives and if you go to the page before on the scanned parts book on this site there is a reference to a third part number too.
Having done the job myself, there is definitely only the bush.
Don't forget the special tool- see above in the thread

Is this the bush that caused all of the problems at the 2010 Le Mans Classic?

For some reason I thought the bush they had their problems with was at the gearbox end but the number quoted seems to show it is for the gear stick end. I just want to know so I can get some if Renault still have them. :wink:

Same bush at both ends but the one in the car doesn't get so hot so it seems to survive better, plis it's simple to replace, the one at the gearbox end of difficult to get at ESP on a 610 where the a/c pipes are in the way too.
I guess a GTA with a/c would be difficult too.
This seems to be the most common roadside issue with these cars, at Macon in 2009 we had two go in what 10 cars? I know of many others that have gone too...
If it hasn't been replaced everyone needs to inspect it. The new ones are made of a different material, harder, so harder to fit, but it should survive better.
Definitely a do it now job.
