Planning to have a look at mine when it comes out of winter storage.

Obviously, if it's a teabag, dropping into RATS to get the work done could be a little difficult for me, does anyone happen to have any plans or templates for what needs to be fabricated to replace what's cut out ?

When I did my Gta 2 years ago,I did make 2 perfect templates, I wish I kept them but I thought I would never do one again so I scrapped them. Same with the 610. Could have made some dosh :hang took 5hr for Gta and a day for the 610 to make one. I do not know how long to then get them scanned for a lazer cutter.

Be quick tho before it gets a coat of satin black and goes on Ebay ......Hertz's got nowt on RATS :Butt

I have to say this one turned out to be a bit of a biatch ...it really didn't look as bad as some of the others but when we started digging it just got worse and worse .
All fixed now though along with all 4 outriggers,two wheelarch pockets,sills and a few other little bits and bobs .

RATS not only restorers of Specialist French sports Coupe's but potential life savers too.

Hopefully not too many potential new owners are put off by all this rot. They are great cars and with a trip to RATS can be future proofed for years to come.

They shouldn't be put off by that I mean blimey every car that is 30 years old plus has got a ton of rust on it somewhere. look at a triumph rear out riggers fall off, the cils which are integral part of the structure just disintegrate. E types Front bulkhead rots Plus front spaceframe rots all suspension hangs off that, plus cils, that is a botch to do. The Gta hasn't got that amount of metal and it's fairly is it to repair.

thing is to the GP a fibre glass car = no rust as stated by William Woollard on Tomorrows world in 1976 so are not even likely to give it a thought. Having said that your average old Alpine buyer is hopefully a little more cued up.
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

Worried about these I dig out a pic of mine a year or so ago when I took my tank out to replace brake master. I know they rot from inside out but does it look in good nick compared to most.

My car has only done 30k and lives in dry garage and rarely sees the rain ?

Thoughts?

Thoughts are..... it looks extremely clean so I would hope for the best but the bits that need removing to really tell are still all in place.LHS of that picture,under the covers,blower etc .You can only see the front lower face of the crossmember not the rear top which is where all the important stuff bolts to.

Having said that it .again .it all looks to be in very very good order :up

Yeah, don't think I see anything there which makes me cry, or worry for my safety. :pint
Will try to figure out how to get the heater box out for a better look, but all sounds good and solid when tapped wit hye olde corrosion assessment tool

To threadjack for a second, but on a "while I'm in there" note, where exactly is this famous resistor for the heater ?
Haven't tested my switch yet, but doesn't hurt to have a look.

And do the wiper linkages really come off as easy, and the way they look like they should ? Mine are a bit stff through lack of use, so grease up time
