With the cost of a G50 box, I would have thought that it would make sense to have the standard box upgraded instead :?

Indeed, and look at the effort that would be required to fit..

It doesnt have a detachable bellhousing so that would be so much of a pain in the ass to modify, as well as making it clear the PRV startermotor etc..

Factor in the cost of the bellhousing and the answer was nope. You can get an off-the-shelf adapter plate/bellhousing for an VQ35 engine (Nissan 350Z to us) to mate to a Porsche box. Marc chose the VQ35 engine because it's also avaiable in the Nissan Maxima pickup truck in the states, so are ten a penny in scrapyards.

I'll give him a nudge to come in on this conversation if you like.

It could be done

Postby pearlintherough » Tue Jul 17, 2007 8:58 am

About 7 years ago 1 of my mates cut the back floor out of a 5 turbo, welded in a modifed 25 sub frame and bolted in a 25 v6 turbo lump (the same lump as the gta?) ok it was a little more complicated than just bolting it in but it did work for a week till he hit a tree very hard and very sideways! Point is anything can be done with the right planning.
