Badges & Logos

Postby Maximus » Sun Dec 27, 2020 10:33 am

Hi all & thanks admin for sorting registration problems. My first post - may I ask are there any suppliers for the "A L P I N E" lettering from the current A110 & also the flying "A" logo/badge in both left and right configuration - I would have though that the factory would sell these but I don't seem to be able to find any contact for a parts dept (& would they want a V5 as proof of ownership?)

I am also trying to source the round badges as illustrated here also - I wonder if anyone can tell me why there are 3 differing types of badge and again are there any suppliers who retail these (at a reasonable cost) - I do see the prettier alpine round badge from time to time on ebay but the do seem to sell for a kings ransom.

I occasionally see the plainer of the two below badges in all black - what prey tell is the significance of this badge.

An outlet for wheel centres would also be welcome.

Many thanks and seasons greetings to one and all.

The ALPINE letters are definitely available from dealers.....saw a set on parts counter at Glyn Hopkins, St Albans.
The others....no idea. There are some badge reproductions places, of course. This guy does Lotus and TVR badges. https://divinehandcraft.co.uk/

A badge i would like is a repro of the original Renault diamond that was on the nose of the original A110.

So I'm assuming that it's because it's the holidays there has only been one person (and a relative newbie himself) has even been bothered to post some advice here for what I consider a very legitimate first post and question.

Some of you might be thinking "google it" or "try ebay" and believe me I already have tried many avenues of enquiry before I posted here.

I have been involved in many car club scenes over the years and thus far the Renault Alpine community are coming across as the least helpful and even unfriendly.

Please; prove me wrong.

Hi Maximus.
Its possible that no one knows the answer!
The forum is very quiet these days and I suspect that you'll get more of a response from the Facebook groups.
The top two pictures are (I think) the A610 and the late GTA badge (early ones were Renault branded, I think in both France and the UK) .
To make life more complicated in the UK, Renault did not own the Alpine name at that time, Talbot did, so the UK cars just had the A with out the "Alpine".
Renault support for the older cars is next to zero, so you have to go into Ebay or the specialists, mainly in France and Germany.
In the UK if Stephen Dell doesn't have one (owner of the this RAOC forum and the one on Facebook who has the best new old stock supplies), the next down the list would be a much longer shot.
In Germany Simon Auto have an on line catalogue and shop. https://simon-auto.de/home-en/classic-en/?lang=en
In France there are
Mecca Parts http://www.mecaparts.com/
GBS http://www.gbsalpine.com/english.html

Good luck with your hunt.

There are several sources but I've bought quite a few items from Arnaud Ventoux Pieces in France included the gold Renault badge for the engine cover of my A110.

This is the page from their website, items 4939 and 6985 are the badges. I've seen both types used on the nose, in photos in the Alpine magazine Mille Miles, but mainly the lozenge 6985. Just scroll down the page to find them.

I agree with Lee, I associate the one marked 'alpine2' with the GTA and I have also seen photos of some A310s with this badge. The 'alpine1' I associate with the A610. Is that how you had it Lee?

Hi John,
Yes that was my view, although the 610 badge (oval) in the UK has no "Alpine" on it. I guess the GTA is the same.
Both my GTA and the 610 have French spec badges, the GTA one came from Simon Auto , the A610 one was on the car when bought.
See above.

Maximus,
Given it is Christmas I'm sure a number of club members, like myself have not logged on for a few days due to family meet ups etc I don't think that 2 days is that unreasonable to wait for a reply. This is the first time I have logged on in 4 days.

(I have been involved in many car club scenes over the years and thus far the Renault Alpine community are coming across as the least helpful and even unfriendly. Please; prove me wrong.)

Re the 2 badges you queried:
Alpine 1 jpg Is a badge from the bonnet of an A610 (1990 to around 1995) this is oval and each side has the distinctive Red/White & Blue of the French Flag. This fits in a shallow recess on the bonnet.
The other badge Alpine 2 jpg is early GTA (which stands for Grand Touring Alpine) and may also have been on the bonnet of some later A310's. Early GTA's had a small Renault Diamond on them.
It is quite correct that going back Renault, when they bought out Alpine could not use the Alpine name in the UK. This was owned by Talbot and used then on the Sunbeam Alpine sports car. That is why the GTA name arose and why the last Alpine to be produced went back to the A designation, the A610. The only cars imported into the UK in right hand drive form was the GTA and the A610. The Belinette A110 and the A310 variants were all imported privately and were all left hand drive. Just to add, there are variants within the badges depending on year and whether the car is a French or UK alpine.
I do know that Simon Auto in Germany can supply Alpine badges so their web site and Alpine pages is well worth a look: https://www.simon-auto-shop.de/epages/S ... ies/Alpine

Hope all of this helps, what seems like a simple request can often be a tad more complex...

Cheers, Barry.

Welcome
Some good answers there and I hope they help.
If you consider becoming a full member you will have access to the members area with lots of information on these great cars and as an owner I find it the best value for keeping them on the road.
Like many others the forum isn't top priority at this time of year. And the cars are not as common as a Ford so there aren't so many of us to help you.
Hope you and your Alpine have a good 2021and if you let us know where you are then it may be easier to help.

I just bought some of these wheel centres from ebay. The delivery time was a bit slow but they are available in a LOT of sizes and designs.

I bought some in 2019 from this exact same supplier. As Stephen says they have several designs and the really good thing is the good range of sizes offered so that you get exactly the size you want. Mine took 9 days from order to delivery.
Note that they are badges to stick on to your existing centre caps, not complete centres. May be I'm stating the obvious, but just to be clear.

Yep same here. Probably about the same delivery time from memory, about a week. Replaced the Azev caps with these as I think it's much nicer, albeit they are quite shiny compared with the normal alloy wheel painted finish.

Hi Maximus,
The nose badge do appear to fetch a small fortune. I believe Mr Dell may have some in stock, but not sure of the price. They appear to be desirable and hence can get removed from your car if your not careful where you park !

I had some wing decals made up a while ago, if you're interested then I'll see if I can pull out the details.
