i was half tempted to bid on this then thought its probably more hassle than its worth, and is it complete or do you need other one off bits for it to work on the gta?

It would probably be more trouble than it's worth ,you could get a lot more for your money .It's only as good as its weakest link so unless you're uprating the clutch/box etc I can't see the point .If you want to go that way I'd look at what's around on the kitcar scene  They use the UN1 box all the time and will have tried and tested configurations .

you'd be better off looking for a second hand sequential flatshift dog box, ex race and rebuilt......much less hassle i think and will do the job properly and the fraction of the price than a new one....... look on hewland's and quaife's websites to give you an idea or too if you really want to go down that road.

or drop the back end out of gta fit the mod unit on your box replace it all ......... if it don't work :? ...... no hair left very quickly :( ...... car off the road for a long time and a load of wasted money   and it looks like it needs a shifter mechanism too...... cable or hydraulic paddles more expense on top

BUT.... a sequential box is very nice to drive with though  .

It won't fit a GTA as the linkage lever arms are in a different orientation to a mid engined setup which use R25/21 lever arms. If you try and fit those arms to a GTA they will swing the wrong direction and hit the transmission tunnel.

Also, that unit bolts onto the 5th gear end housing on the UN1. On our cars this tucked up tight inside the transmission tunnel and so no room for this unit. Even if you chop up the transmission tunnel there is still no physical room..

The 1st and 2nd Renault syncro's don't like power shifting with a traditional lever, let alone with a sequential unit! As Lee said, it would need completely upgraded internals.
