Electric Door Mechanism

Postby BIG_MVS » Mon Jul 24, 2006 10:14 pm

Right another problem now...

After messing with the relay that operates the engine bay cooling fans behind the radio my door release keeps blowing a fuse

Anyone know what to check for or had a similar problem as I've blown a relay now as well!

There seem to be two relays that operate the door release, one on passenger side and the other on the drivers side.

Got 2 replacement relays but the fuse just keeps blowing...

All I can think of is that I've disturbed something or a bad earth?

Maybe you've disturbed a rogue live wire behind the dash somewhere which keeps making contact with something, blowing the fuse. I blew a fuse a couple of times when I messing around behind the centre console the other week trying to get the permanent live to my radio to work and I had a couple of live wires dangling around from my original radio connections, which I accidentally earthed. So maybe you've got a wire loose or dangling you haven't noticed you might have disturbed?
