Intercooler spray

Postby peterg » Mon Jan 31, 2005 1:28 pm

Bought one of those intercooler spray systems that are all over Ebay at the minute.......£70. Have fitted it and its up and running....seems to work very well, the 3 jets it comes with spray at a ferocious speed and nicely atomise the water to a fine and wide spray. I am sceptical that it will return a 7% power increase when operating as the manufacturer claims it has done on some vehicles, but with the poor cooling qualities of the GTA intercooler its gotta be good for some improvement. Will be taking iced water with me to this seasons events!!!!

make sure that you use purified water as tap water has corrosive chemicals........ not great for the intercooler!
.....or at least remove the intercooler for a quick repaint, much cheaper than a new one.

Try this idea.

Cut a section out of the area around the top of the intercooler, then just before you are ready to run fill up the aperture with crushed ice or dry ice if you can get it. A guy used to run a 300bhp+ MR2 Turbo up the pod and said it make a big difference - if obviously short lived!
