Spanners Need Reply Please!

Hi all.... just wondering where can I buy a five sided spanner for the bolts on the rear calipers / hangers please? Thanks!

You can buy or order a pentagonal socket from most good motor factors.

I got a pentagonal socket set for the brakes off good old ebay, earlyer this year, came in a plastic box with two different sized sockets ,less than a tenner with postage !

60 of them on ebay tonight too.
Hopefully your club membership form is in the post this week too .

Just a quick note on these - although they look like the ones to get the calliper off the upright, they're not and the manual states that these should NOT be undone/removed.

So, if you're just trying to get the callipers off to change the discs, you don't need the pentagonal socket.

I'm sure you already know this but I just wanted to check.

Hi all, thanks for the replies, the piston is seized and no matter what I do I cannot free it so if I remove the hanger it will make it easier to access the piston without doing any damage..... What size are the pentagonal bolts ??mm!

If the piston is siezed then you really need to take the caliper off and refurb .
You are winding it in aren't you ? It does not just push back it needs to be rotated .

Yes I'm winding it, its a caliper I recently bought which needs to be re-furbished!

If you're trying to remove the calliper, it's not the pentagonal bolts you should be attacking but the regular 17mm(?) bolts nearby.

Check out this page of the workshop manual. You've probably already got the correct socket...

I think yeah fella is wanting to remove the retainer bracket so he can attack the piston with some force .Leaving the caliper attached to keep it from moving about when he does so .....
If the piston needs that much force to move it then , to use a technical term ,it's f ucked
Take if off fella .
You can remove the pentagonal bolts but you need to torque them properly and must use threadlock .
