New GTA member

Postby nz90125 » Sat Nov 28, 2015 6:54 am

Greeting from Australia.
I am just about to take delivery of a GTA turbo next week. Waiting for transport is the longest wait. lol.
I have been reading many posts by members on this site and am pleased to see so many avid fans of the vehicles. I drive a megane 175 sport as a daily drive, and until recently had a fleet of Renault Fuego's (5 in total).
One question I would like to ask is wheels ?.
I believe many have changed to after market and from what I can tell various sizes.
What advise can you guys give me.
The cars got the original wheels minus the centre cover. Any suggestions where I can get or if any one has a set for sale please help would be welcome.
Looking forward to joining the RAOC and contributing.
Cheers
for now David

Hi David

Welcome to the forum. I have only been a member here for about 6 months, all the guys are really helpful, & ready to give advice.

You are correct in saying that there are different aftermarket wheel options. The standard rear tyres - 255/45 x 15 are difficult to get & very expensive. I think its also difficult to locate aftermarket wheels with the correct offset for the front of the GTA. My car is still on standard wheels & I will need some new rear tyres soon so have yet to make the choice - standard or new wheels.

Where did your car come from. There has been one advertised recently in the US which had the centre caps missing.

Good luck with your search :Cheer

Paul

244/45 x 15

Small typo - should read 255/45 x15

244s are even harder to find ;)
I'm just here for the gasoline.

Many thanks for your welcome guys.
Iam pleased to say the GTA was delivered to my home Wednesday.
Sure you could see my smile lol
It was imported from UK in 2005.
Its spent the last decade in Melbourne before I purchased.
To date it requires Australian compliance before I can register so looks like a few months of tinkering (at least its summer here).
First on the list besides treating the chassis is strip and service the braking system.
Everything appears to be ok but wont really know till later.
Ive noticed a few bits I will need to replace so if anyone can help id appreciate.
1, the cover covering the fuses on the dash is missing
2, the flip tray behind the gear stick needs replacing.
other areas I noticed need attention:-
the front bonnet wont close properly with out pushing the whole bonnet back and to the side to re aline (expect the whole front will need to be removed first ???.
the door locks arnt working I expect the transport people may be responsible.
ok enough from me for now.
Attached are a few picture hope there ok
cheers
for now
David
