FASA Alpine A110

Postby cmdrrand » Thu Apr 14, 2016 2:31 am

Fellow Brits,
from a new USA member who owns FASA 1300, Vin BA 0828

I recently purchased my RED FASA A110 from a dealer in the Netherlands and would like to communicate
with other FASA 1300 owners....I will be at the "Lemans Classique" with my Alpine at the FCRA meeting display
on that Saturday. My 1300 is completely original and I have a general question on my 1300 engine (85) !
Were these "85" engines made in Dieppe at the factory or are they Spanish made....I am converting my
single Carb to a Weber with a French manifold, which I purchased from a respected Alpine Supplier at the
"Paris Retromobile". I am also adding the "Monte Carlo Gotti" wheels as I do not like the appearance of the
Spanish made Alpine wheels. I appreciate all response, guys....thanks.

Welcome to the Apline fold. I am sure you will see, meet and chat with many A110 owners at Le Mans Classic, it is a great event and I am sure you will enjoy it.

You might be interested in this register of FASA built cars.

Your car appears on page 12, was originally blue, had some competition history, was resprayed red and was bought in Belgium in 2014.

I don't think the engines were built in the Alpine Dieppe factory for the Dieppe built Alpines or for any other Alpines built outside of France. I imagine Alpine would have bought the engines from Renault. I don't think they had the manufacturing facilities to make engine components. Could be wrong but that's my understanding.
FASA possibly had engine manufacturing capabilities as they built standard Renault vehicles as well as Alpines. Again, I'm not sure about this. The identification plate of the original engine in my FASA built A110 was Spanish being marked 'No del motor'. It could, of course, have had the plate added to the block in Spain.

I also replaced the downdraft Bresel-Weber carburetor with a single Weber 40 DCOE on a Hermes manifold. I bought the carburetor and manifold from a club member about 24 years ago.

Be good to see some photos of your car.
