Trying to get her back on the road

Postby mike17 » Mon Mar 05, 2018 5:16 pm

Hi
Anyone found an alternative for
the petrol cap assy on a GTA?
anything that does the connection
to the plastic neck will get me going
until I find? an original cap/adaptor assy.
thanks mike

Welcome.

Any pics of what you need? Is it the fuel filler cap?

Which GTA have you got, whereabouts are you?

Hi there just seen your replies thanks
well I've got a dusty 1990 GTA thats just come out of dry storage after 10 +years and the petrol cap and metal neck tank adaptor have rusted very badly and bits
fell into the tank, looked fine from the outside all nice and cad plated.
Cleaned the tank out OK but just a bare plastic neck now...any ideas very much
appreciated.....
not sure how to ad pics yet bit new to site.mike

It might be worth contacting Simon Autos in Germany. They appear to have the two parts you require, available but the petrol cap might be the earlier type, but that could be better than nothing.
In the pic below from their catalogue, it shows your item 20 ... Cap .... is 031046 ... 49.60 Euros (the other numbers for the cap are not available)
And your item 18 ... Collar .... is 031062 ... 29.63 Euros. (the other number for this part is also unavailable)
If you have not dealt with them before, Andreas speaks good English. Check everything with him first.

There are two versions of caps for GTA. One is larger and fixed to tank more than the other.I think I have both types but will need to check .Worst case I will have a complete tank with cap.
Will check and let you know. I have to be careful it doesn't belong to one of the cars here :thinking

Carb cleaner getting squerted in every orfice.,the micro switch is US so need to find one somewhere....reading through all the carb atmo info posted on here....but any pointers greatly appreciated... I'm so close now..mike
