Nah, that wouldnt be a problem. Remember the manifold is tucked under the angle of the V, and the inlet manifold on the 2.0 16v sits a long way out of the back of the engine, further than the mild 60 degree angle of the L7X.

You could also incline the V6 forward towards the back of the car by a few degrees, to prevent any clearance problems..

The V6 is not as high as the 4 pot, it can't be obviously because of its design. :D

It would be a good conversion. You could even use the cheap version from the Laguna (200bhp/200lbft). Plenty on ebay for around £500....

The expensive bit is getting the custom 6 port manifolds fabricated.. :wink:


why does the engine sit at least 6 inches higher in a clio V6 compared to the spider/. is it because of the Plenum on the top?

Exhaust manifolds running under the engine on the V6. On the Spider you could route around...

Couldnt you just have an interchangeable rear sub frame? Depends on the gearbox linkage I suppose.
Still would be a botch of a job to swap over.

It would be possible as you can just remove the whole lot from the rear of the race car as it has a removable rear panel etc just unbolt the whole engine and side frames, not easy at all with a road car as it has a one piece shell and everything would have to be lifted out of the engine bay or lift off the body first..... :shock:

The Ferrari engined car looks like it might have a front mounted radiator as there are big exit air ducts where the wind deflector should be.... that would make a bit more space for the engine in the back.
