Replica GTA Le Mans for sale ....

Postby turbodog » Mon Sep 20, 2010 11:27 am

There is a replica Le Mans for sale here ...

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C182543/

I have phoned the garage and it IS a replica but whoever did it used parts of a damaged real one. The bumper looks like a Prima racing one.

everyman and his dog have been to look at it...... including myself and MrD.....(didn't buy it) and a man from wales? Turbodog?

it's a very tidy car had a ground up restoration when the le mans front was stuck on...... alot of money has been spent on it , overall its a very tidy car mechanically good, it just needs the paint sorting and the repair on the one rear wing tidying......

price needs to reflect that so he needs to really halve it to be anywhere close to the right ball park......

Had a good look at the weekend.

+

Had an extensive restoration previously with photos to prove.
Seems to run OK
Wheels are 2/3 piece so no nasty spacers
3 branch manifold and exhaust

-

Atmo not Turbo
Usual splits and bubbles so bodywork needs a refresh
Rear RH wing not quite right
No MOT or TAX
Rear calipers not working

The nose is from a le mans. The rear arches have been flared by hand and there is something not quite right with the RH one. It had a bump at some time as one wheel was damaged (now replaced) so wondered if this wing was hit at the same time.

Could be an interesting project at £3K ish. Needs £1000 paint (at Andy's double that anywhere else) , transport to halifax and then home and then it's still an atmo with a le mans front. Engine swap to 24V could be good.

To replace the rear wings, bumper and sills with le mans items would probably add another £1000 to the bodywork bill.

Tempting if it remains unsold...
Could be a lot of hassle though.

Then think how much you would realistically want to pay for an Atmo with no TAX or MOT if it didn't have the le mans front and wheels? £1000-£1500? Add those on £500 + £1000 gives £2500 - £3000 IMO.

No I think that's a fair assessment, the previous owner spent a lot of money and now it needs some tlc and a lower price tag.

Subaru blue by the way.
