They all look fair value to me. I don't dee the point of knocking peoples asking prices, it only serves to devalue the marque.

You would have thought that they might have made a bit more about the press history of the red one though. I'd buy it if I had space, and wanted a quick divorce....!

you only have to do the maths..... spend a few £k on a project car.... then spend a whole lot more sorting the thing out..... and you'll probably end up spending as much as one in the ads, but one thing you can't change is the mileage.....one's reasonable and the other 2 are pretty low

To be honest I'd do the project car anyday rather than paying top money for one - unless that is it comes with a full photographic restoration - otherwise you may be paying top money for a nice looking top hat and find the inside (ie door posts etc) has gone like mine, if those cars are on the original door posts I'd suggest there's not much life left in them after what I found when I cut mine up - Crap French Steel with near enough zero rust protection at the factory.

At least rebuilding from start to finish you know its done right with no corners cut nor bodges done.

..... and with the GTA history of dickey speedos.(the odometer won`t work either).....I would always approach low mileage GTA`s with a degree of suspicion. Might be worth checking all the MOT certificates for verification before committing.

I agree, low mileage doesn't make a car, never bothered me. Lets face it, mine shows the clock at 130k, however, looking through all the receipts and at previous resto etc, everything has now been replaced (engine, clutch, turbo, suspension, brake calipers etc etc - in fact the only thing not replaced was the door pillars ) so when i've finished my bit the car will be like new - completely belieing its speedo mileage.

I appreciate it was a comment made in passing and I'm being a bit pedantic, but i'd point out GTAs are far too new for that to be a 'fact'.
It's very possible that the steel came from a french manufacturer but they also buy steel from all over europe.
Less so from the UK now as we don't make much, but a few years back, they even used british steel!

The problem was the complete lack of protection, as you also mentioned.

And if they did use British Steel as you have quoted then that would explain it, our Austin Princesses, Allegro's, Morris Marina's and the Classic Mini all used British Steel.......

There did seem to be a very thin black coat of paint that flaked off (this was only visible inn one or two little areas though), if you look at the roll tube that is nspotted to inside of box section that has a firm black paint covering.
My box sections were that corroded that any protection applied at build was very limited to say the least, I've worked on Fords older that have been parked by the sea all their life and they have been in better fettle.

All I can think is that Renault thought at the time as the posts were sealed in they wouldn't collect or see water and hence be always dry?

Mine will be filled with cavity wax before the GRP is bonded back on and they already have a heavy coat of Zinc both in and out, where the bond isn't going will be heavily coated in underseal for extra protection, although, in theory with me using box section twice as thick as that used in factory my door pillars should last 50 years now anyway

Possibly..... but they were being built alongside the Espace in Dieppe.... and their chassis were galvanised, and they had plastic/GRP panels. I did ask why the Alp`s chassis was not being done the same way when I was flown there before I bought mine, and was told that on the Alp`s, it was not necessary, and like a fool, I accepted their explanation. ...... must have been a Renault salesman I was asking.
