Does anyone know where I might find one of these valves or a similar valve with the same function?
It's a miniature 3 way solenoid valve from the A310 and measures approximately 50 mm across the mounting bracket and has 3.5 mm diameter connections. It doesn't seem to be working.
In the first photo the bottom port is connected by tubing to a tee in the vacuum line to the brake servo. The right hand port is connected to 2 vacuum diaphragm/flap units. When the solenoid is energised the bottom and right hand ports should be connected allowing intake manifold depression to the flap units. One flap unit then closes the ventilation fresh air inlet duct and the other opens to allow the ventilation fan to recirculate cabin air through the evaporator. The left hand port doesn't appear to do anything.
In it's de-energised state the right hand port is connected to a vent passage that exits through the middle of the coil to the hole at the top in the second photo. This then allows the diaphragm/flap units to open to atmospheric air and return the flaps back to 'non-aircon' positions. The coil has 2 terminals and is energised when the aircon switch on the dashboard is rotated.
My solenoid seems to be stuck in the de-energised state as I can blow through the right hand port and air exits at the top hole. When connected to a battery it stays in the same state. I've squirted contact cleaner and WD40 into the ports without any effect. Markings on it are 78GG19496AA and F9 02 and the Ford trademark name within the blue oval.
Basically I guess that I need a 3 way, 12V miniature solenoid valve with connections close to 3.5 mm diameter. As it is mounted behind the screen wash bottle in a reasonable amount of space the shape and connection orientations aren't critical. It needs to be reasonably small though.
I can't find it listed in the A310 parts list but the GTA parts list shows item 11 (77 00 855 078) below which might have the same or similar function. I've done some Google searching but not yet found anything other than 2 way valves.
Any ideas or whether the GTA item 11 might do the job and whether anyone has one spare?
