Hi all,
Many of you know this was coming......
Its a sad moment, but unfortunately she cannot come with me to America.
Below is a copy of the Ad i have put up on Ebay, and other sites.
Allthough the car is up for general sale, i would prefer it, if it went to someone form the owners club, who will continue to care for it and keep it in its current condition.
Paul.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I started my search for a Renault GTA in Aug 2009, and after viewing and testing 6 different vehicles, I purchased this one in Jan 2010. It was a car recommended to me by the Renault Alpine Owners Club UK as one of the best un-restored daily driver examples available. The car has acquired the nickname “Silver Dream Machine” within the Alpine community.
Unfortunately despite a long search and purchasing my boyhood dream car, I now have to sell due to myself and my family emigrating. Even more unfortunate for me is that I cannot bring this car with me.
When I purchased the car it came with a heavily extensive service history in a jumbo A4 binder, with the added bonus that only 2 years ago it had a £2200 full body re-spray in its factory colour.
I am a ex Saab Mechanic by trade, and since owning the car I have done the following -:
• Full engine service, including new Air Filter, Oil Filter, both
Fuel Filters, Correct Platinum Spark Plugs, All new ignition
leads, New Distributor Cap and rotor arm. + New Fan belt.
Engine is running on Shell Helix Ultra fully synthetic 15w/50.
• Gearbox oil change.
• Throttle Body and AIC valve removed, cleaned and serviced.
• Turbo boost correctly calibrated to run at the correct Max
pressure of 0.8 bar. It was running at 0.45 bar when I got the
car.
• Seats and Carpet fully removed. Carpet was washed 3 times
and treated to Scotch Guard. The seats were washed 2 times
and again treated to Scotch Guard. So the interior smells nice
and fresh, and of course its very clean.
• All dashboard plastics restored to give an As-New appearance.
• Ventilation system repaired with a new switch, Ballast
Resistor, and new Fan unit.
• Correct rear Decals fitted. In the exact locations as per the
1988 Sales Brochure. You will see many GTA’s with
incorrectly placed Decals.
• Digital Fuel Gauge system repaired, and now actually gives an
accurate reading.
• Every single Electrical Connector on the whole car that could
be reached was removed, and cleaned with ServiSol Electrical
Contact Cleaner.
• Central Locking actuators and mechanisms removed cleaned
and refitted so now the Central Locking works.
• Electric Window motors and mechanisms removed and
cleaned. So the Windows now go up and down at a
reasonable speed.
• All Door cards were removed and recovered, as per attached
pictures.
• Rear engine cover re-carpeted.
• The original Philips Stereo was removed, since it did not work.
I have replaced this with a £550 Alpine DVD head unit, with full
iPod and MP3 controls. There is also a Alpine V12 amplifier
driving a 10” subwoofer mounted in a custom box I made in the
passenger foot well. No floor or leg space has been lost. All
factory speakers removed and replaced. Pioneer 8” units in the
front doors, and Pioneer 6.5” Component units in the rear, with
high level mounted tweeters. This sound system gives great
quality and reproduction, with a full bass that is not “boomy”.
• Accurate Boost gauge fitted to centre console.
• Fitted a new rear view mirror which is actually a Bluetooth
phone hands free device. It is loud and clear, and the best
thing is its discrete.
This GTA came with and still has the following modifications, which are pretty much common to all GTA’s.
• Replacement Azev A Alloy’s. With 17x10 Spec wheels on the
rear, as per LeMans.
• All Brake Discs have been replaced with Drilled and Slotted
versions, and EBC Green Stuff pads, giving some serious
stopping power.
• All engine “Boost” pipes have been replaced with a genuine
Samco silicone pipe kit.
• In addition this car has the ART “Alpine Renault Tuning”
Stainless Race exhaust system. It is not overly loud, but it
does sound absolutely great and is the perfect match for the
PRV engine giving a sound that I can honestly say sounds like
no other car. Turbo whistle is also very pronounced at low
speed town driving. Certainly turns heads !.
• The front Doors have been upgraded by the famous Alpine
renovator “Paul Sage” to include his door re-enforcements.
Where Steel Panels are embedded into the door fibreglass
near the Hinge locations. Strengthening the door. Since on
most GTA’s the fibreglass cracks and the doors drop, or worse
case fall off.
Overall this is probably one of the best “Daily Driver” examples left.
I have used this car every day since buying it, driving 30 miles per day. It is totally reliable and “Everything” on the car works. It returns 24mpg average on urban and country road routes, and 31mpg on motorway runs. Which for a car classed as a SuperCar is superb in my mind.
Only 1 thing has failed on this car in my time of ownership, and that was a pin hole appeared in a Water Pipe. Which could happen on any car really.
The updated modern sound system and Bluetooth handsfree systems make this Classic a great car to use every day.
Purists out there will notice the car has Renault Alpine A610 rear lights and Intercooler Grille. These items came from the A610 that Jeremy Clarkson crashed into a concrete barrier on Top Gear 2 years ago.
The car comes with a fresh MOT which is passed just 2 weeks ago with Zero comments. And the TAX expires at the end of May 2011.
This car comes complete with a Jumbo A4 Folder containing its history from Day 1.
I also purchased a genuine Ex Renault dealer workshop manual.
I also have a unmarked as new 1988 GTA sales brochure and various Alpine books that I have purchased over the last year. All come with the car.
In addition !, this car comes with the following. Spare “Brand New” never used Azev A alloys. (Handy since they are no longer in production). Full spare set of engine Water pipes. Spare set of Door window rubbers. Spare ventilation fan. 2x Spare indicator stalks. And even spare carpet should you ever wish to re-cover anything.
Finally. I was recently messed around by someone who wanted to buy this GTA, strip it, and prepare it for use in a Classic Rally.
I do not want this car to end up on the track being used for Racing.
I would like it to remain being a Daily Use car, in the hands of someone who will continue caring for it.
Car is located in Reading Berkshire (M4 J11), or can be viewed in Henley on Thames Oxfordshire during the daytime.
