difficult to get hold of I think - I tried about 3-4 years ago - there was some new old stock at longstone - but only a couple - and this was expensive..so I gave up....try http://www.michelin-passion.com - they list the following stockists...
(I still have my rims in the garage - let us know how you get on)

It seems michelin do still make some TRX tyres - but these are not listed -maybe you've seen this already - could be worth contacting the michelin men directly..

looks like longstone may have some H-rated new old stock at £50 each...think I did not go for these as I wanted V-rated

make sure you check the age of any new old stock tyres, anything over 10 years old would be chancey

yes I have seen the Longstone Tyres place- comes out at £75.00 with the delivery VAT etc.
Maybe my only option though (that is if they still have them). Yes pretty hard to get hold of it seems...

Age of tyres- yes

yes thats right, the rubber perishes doesn't it? That was the prob I had with the last one- brand new tyre but it perished and didn't last long--
Problem is I expect these Michelin TRX's are probably over 10 years old, new old stock as you say...

Metric tyres.... N.O.S (New/ old Stock)

Postby a22 » Sun May 25, 2008 12:33 am

Hi Mark and thanks for reply/ help :
Here you go, the tyres went into remanufacture about two years ago

yea, I looked at link but the size I need (190/55/365) are N.O.S (New/ old Stock) it seems... ? About £75.00 with VAT and delivery... think these are old tyres that may well 'perish' very soon and not remanufactured tyres...?

Anyway thanks for your help/ appreciated... just looked at the rears and they too are maybe only good for another 3000miles... its the fronts that have probs right now... anyway thinking of putting different wheels on... its a left hand drive I have and these metric tyres are so hard to get and costly it maybe a better idea to just buy some U.K style wheels tyres? cheers and any advice appreciated from all....

GTA/ Wheels/ Metric etc

Postby a22 » Thu May 29, 2008 9:36 pm

Yup that's the one- still no sale but I am just glad I got a left hooker after seeing what prices some GTA's have recently been going for- £1800  thereabout recently on Ebay (only 35000miles, or so the speedo said) !

I decided to put the price of the car up, as I was getting some annoying offers from some French would be buyers and they were acting like they were maybe doing me a favour buying it! If I don't get the good money then I will keep her. It's very crazy there was recently a GTA Turbo on Ebay French classifieds for I think 23,000Euro! Then I think they reduced it to 21,000, how generous can you get?

Yes you are probably right about putting the Turbo wheels on, what do they go straight on without any hassle? bearing in mind that mine is a proper French LHD (1985)- Guess that also means that the tyres are alot easier to find- does it not? Well, I hope so as they are abit rare these metrics...

Can't say I blame you holding out for a price although at current exchange rates 10,995 Euro is £8700, your asking £5k (or was that who you bought it from) on this site are you not?

If your not too bothered about selling then keep asking top whack, but if you do need to sell try asking for the £5k in Euro's over in France and it should fly out

Yes I think Rupert has a set surplus as Clee no longer needs them, or if you can wait I may have a set coming up for sale......

Yea, Hi Big MVS, thanks

yes that's right and yes I guess I should probably tell Stephen to remove my classified on the club(5K price) as it seems my best bet is too hang out for the sale in France as it is obviously worth more there than here (unfortunately)!

Yea, I have justabout sorted my metric tyres out for now (temporary measure) but maybe in a few months it maybe best to bang the turbo wheels on as you state, that would make much more sense than all this metric nonsense.

So yes, will hold on for know but have taken note of your help with Rupert/ Clee and yourself... hopefully one of you may still have some turbo wheels/ tyres even if needed... and hopefully I may have made a sale by then...

May be on the cards that I take the Alpine through another little trip through Europe before... soon hopefully... was great the last time I did it.... you can really enjoy the car I have found on European motorway.... :P
