A610 A/C Compressor Thermal Protection Switch

Postby Paul Tindall » Sun Jan 02, 2011 10:20 pm

Anyone know where I can obtain one of these? It's a small cylindrical unit (about 1.5cm dia/ 1.5cm deep) from which the red compressor wires emerge (one links to the compressor clutch, the other to the loom). It's sunk into the compressor casing towards the rear. There is an original part number for the switch (6000009323) but it's long since obsolete from Renault that is) seemingly.

My compressor is serviceable but the switch/wires were corroded and my attempts to remove it just succeeded in destroying the switch casing! An old switch would be fine, if anyone has a knackered compressor, but I suspect that the switch would have to be cut out of the casing - they seem to seize in readily although they are only meant to be held with a silicone sealant. Of course if anyone has a contact with an A/C reconditioner that might help, so far I haven't been able to persuade any specialist to supply me just the part I need (even though I'm sure they have them!). They just say it's part of the recon kit and I would have to pay for full reconditioning.

Grateful for any help or suggestions anyone may have.

Cheers.

That's great Stephen, thought I'd mentioned it when I was down in the summer - hope you can find it!
