Would love them.....but only have 16s on the front so they wonts fit....that and a chronic shortage of money :?

Not this year I'm afraid! Apart from the money thing (which is the big stumbling block.....just about have money for the ECU which will come first) am I not right in thinking 17s at the front will cause arch clearance problems on full lock? That kind of thing causes big headaches with scrutineers!

My car has 17's on the front and has no clearance problems. I have heard of occasional problems with touching the small L shaped bracket in the arch but this is probably down to manufacturing differences.

I've got the 16" problem as well !! :wink:
Cant they just make a different mounting bracket?
Otherwise its the Peugeot 406 Brembo unit and Clio RS 280mm discs.(and all kinds of spacing trickery)

With 16's there's not really much else worth fitting. A lot of hassle for minimal increase in braking area. There are absolutely no clearance problems at all with 17's on the front. If the GTA was made today it would have them as standard.

I did have another kit in development for 280mm discs behind standard or 16" wheels (& still have it) but the problem is that the bracket for the caliper fouled on just about everything on full lock. The great thing about the 325mm discs is that they move the caliper well away from all possible sources of interference and the lower balljoint has plenty of clearance coutesy of the large bell.

Noticed advertisements in Mille Miles for GTA big brakes (300mm/305mm and 4 pots (16 inch)

No prices mentioned but if your French is poor, try speaking to Laurent at Profil Tuning, and if you ask nicely he might be able to help with tracking down some figures.

Hi Iam new to this forum and have just read the interesting thread. I've come from a Lotus forum and have owned one for the past few years. I along with my specialist have developed many different brake upgrades for my current cars. I see these are Hi-Spec brake kits as used in the same kit as the www.pnmengineering.com kits. They made several kits to accomodate 15" 16" & 17" wheels. I know a 286mm slotted one piece disc kit would fit on a 15" wheel no problem.
why doesn't someone come up with a kit to fitstandard wheels too?

If there are no takers and no one has a problem with it, I could look into a kit to suit standard wheels. I would only do this with everyone's consent. The last thing I want to do is to thread on someone's toes, especially being new here.

When I buy my Renault GTA/610 I may look into a few proejects. I had made a few carbon fibre parts for my Esprit and other stuff.

David G has a standard brake upgrade......should have been ready for my Knockhill sprint at the weekend but slight delays with engineering companies have meant its next week (he says hopefully!)

None of it will apply if you buy an A610, different stud pattern and better brakes to start with......in fact if you are planning to fiddle with it you will find yourself a bit limited compared to whats available for the GTA.....but we should get off this thread.....its Stephen's to sell his brake upgrade hence the 'sticky' tag!!!!!

I developed this kit too but it was too much hassle for too little improvement. The 4 pot caliper just fits behind the standard wheels but there were all sorts of clearance problems with the hubcarrier and lower balljoint. + someone who's not prepared to pay replace the standard wheels is unlikely to pay for a 4 pot conversion.

Much easier just to bolt on bigger discs and use the existing caliper if you want to keep standard wheels.
