Yep, but missed the one I should have had that was at Dell Towers. There will be another along at some point no doubt as they are not that popular in mainstream so stay reasonably priced. Think it would be a 300 for me but also want to try a 610 as its probably a better car, if a little less sporty. Only me guessing as I haven't been in either.

Have a look on the Renault classic car forum.
There's a long thread with lots of pictures.
The guy is (IIRC) romanian living here but he took this back to Romania where an R12 specialist rebuilt it better than new with R12 (not Dacia) stuff.

Yes the number of photos was not lost on me, but I was trying not to be too cocky and make a remark about them, but now you have, thanks Trevor.

Martin the number plate thing had not passed me by either, I had noticed it some years ago the first time I saw your forum name and the registration on your car.

Ooohh Trevor,

Don’t go opening that can of worms! An A610 is probably better than a Venturi? It is all down to personal taste; it will be so very subjective as the only objective items can be performance figures surely? But if you want a subjective opinion between a Venturi 260 and a GTA Le Mans I think the Venturi is better, but not by a huge amount. It is faster, more sure footed in the bends, smaller and more comfortable on a run. But having said that I am very impressed by the Alpine, it is a very capable car with a far superior gear change and better fuel consumption than the Venturi.

There are many period magazine articles that compare the 260 with the A610 and most give it to the Venturi, but there is usually very little in it as the price of the Venturi new was a bit of an issue, in the £50,000 bracket with a few options added. Another pairing of these two cars came in 1992 when a certain J Clarkson, (viewed as the Anti-Christ on this forum), did a Top Gear TV article, again the same conclusion was announced.

Venturi 260 versus Venturi 300 is yet another argument! The 300 has softer lines and is to many a prettier car, (my view also), it is also more powerful at just over 280 BHP, (unless it is the Bi-Turbo, 300 BHP), versus 260 BHP, but it is a bigger and heavier car, it has also been set up closer to a Grand Tourer than the 260 so it is a softer drive. I have driven several 300’s and I think they are a little softer but still a very nice car, I have my 260 only because it was available and was a lot cheaper than the 300’s for sale at that time otherwise I would have bought a 300.

By the way guys, these are just my views and are not designed to upset anybody or start a slanging match, honest.
