SATURDAY JANUARY 28th.
Barrie “Whizzo” Williams’ racing career started in 1957 and to date he has driven in over 1,500 races and rallies. He was the first person ever to win an international rally in a Cooper S in 1964 and achieved a win in his first Formula 3 race at Silverstone three years later. During his two-year stint with F3 he was racing against such names as Derek Bell, Ronnie Peterson and Frank Williams. In 2007, driving a BRM, he won his last single-seater race at Goodwood.
He is still enjoying the sport as much as ever but would love to fulfil his ambition to drive a competition modern F1 car. Tonight “Whizzo” will be recounting tales from his incredible 50-year career in historic and classic motor sport.
The evening will begin at 8.00 pm in the Lecture Theatre of the Collections Centre and the National Motor Museum is open from 6.00 pm at no extra charge. A pay bar is available for the purchase of beers, wines, soft drinks and tea & coffee. We regret we are unable to provide food. Evenings conclude at 10.30 pm approximately. Tickets are £10.00 and are available by sending a SAE to Theresa Browning, Friends Secretary, National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, Hampshire, SO42 7ZN. For more information telephone 01590 614792, email:
