GTA Restoration.

Postby simonsays74 » Mon Nov 08, 2010 7:10 pm

Started a new thread here as the other one went a bit dead on the picture front, my fault!!

Big project as you can see, but................... I love a challange!!

First up...... THE CAR!!

Image

Image

Image

Lovely!

First up for the chop are the two inner sills that are rotten.........

Before.....

Image

During......

Image

After.....

Image

Now to the passengers side.....

Image

Chopped out........

Image

.......and fixed!

Image

Steering rack mounting area, cut out the fibre glass cover to find RUST!!

Image

Image

Sorry, no after picture. Top and bottom metals replaced!

Rear strut turrets, lower area........

Image

Image

Repaired.........

Image

Image

Now just the rear inner arch structural connector..........

Image

Chopped out with the 'new' piece set into place..........

Image

Phew.... Now just to refit all the fibre glass sections that had to come off to enable a fire free welding experiance!!

The sill sections will be refitted using the same type of glue that Alpine used all those years ago!

Phaa! Photobucket/box all shite!

....bucket uploaded 26 of 31 pictures saying that the others were invalid!!! Same pictures with the same camera taken at the same time in the same file.

Anyway, just thought that I might share what I'm doing on the 'other' side of the Irish Sea, but clearly it's not to be for me!!

Maybe the next time you all see it, it might be a fully working car!! LOL
