Solar battery charger

Postby darrenbiggs » Wed Nov 02, 2005 5:50 pm

Having just been away for the past 3 weeks with work and about to go on holiday for two weeks I've decided to invest in one of these to help keep the battery fresh during the cold and damp weather.

I only intend to use it when I'm away for extended periods of time but at 20 quid it's got to be worth a go.

You'd need a window in the garage for it to work.

Either that or you could mount in outside and splice in an extra length of wire (I haven't got it yet so I can't comment on how long the leads are or whether it's designed to be waterproof), you could then park the car up and simply plug in.

My car's used a lot more than most but I reckon it'd be useful for anyone whose car rests for weeks at a time. I've bought two - one is for a Xmas present for an elderly relative who only uses his car a few times a month, his garage has a window though and the panel is fitted with suction cups so I assume you can easily point it in the right direction. I'll let you know!

I have got two of those chargers. One for each Alpine, they are very good as long that the battery is fully charged before using it. 8)
