Retrocars again!

Postby peterg » Thu Nov 10, 2005 5:20 pm

This month has a Renault turbo shoot out....no GTAs mind as it was the RTOC and not an elite club like ours  Red21 is in there, and theres a neat 5 T2. The R5 GTT that was in the same speed series as me this year is also in there and I sort of get a mention.....says they were neck and neck with a GTA all season....thats me!! :D (except they were in mod prod....and I beat them overall 8) )

Thats me, :D :D :D :D
It was along two days for me, up at 4:30am back home at 10:30-10:45pm then up again at 4:30am the next day for work so I was absolutely knackered.
The best part of the Retro car day was on the track using part of the old runway where 130 mph+ does not seem that fast (Ok it’s not really) but then again I was not using all the engine rpm or gears as I had Longleat that weekend so no risks were taken.
Tony Hart from Prima did bring his GTA along, so Alpine did have some form of representation there.
If you want laugh or not! I have my season report done so drop me an e-mail titled “Season report” and I will send it onwards.

Will it not just post on the the events bit? Why didnt they put the GTA on there as well??? Seems odd that they had something different there and didnt use it.....especially when there were so many 5 s there.
The 5 GTT guys I know had a bit of a mare I think....if I remember correctly they ended up having to buy a new turbo afterwards!!!!

Tis galling that a car like this gets systematically ignored
Was looking through some classic online price guides and many don't even list it,but the 5'S there ( I is not dissing the 5 ,I like the 5 ) but ................................................as a classic Renault it's unknown and as an Alpine it's slightly looked down upon .
Again as the only Renault approved Alpine club in the UK ,it's up to us to push it forwards .

The reason they didn't have the GTA in the article because it had no racing history as an individual car plus it wasn’t registered to take part.
I cannot post the season report, as it is a whopping 5.6Mb including pictures so I can only e-mail. Yeah, Tony & Paul were complaining of poor boost levels until they came in smoking :?
Clee, Even I don’t want to see me in the flesh!!!!!!!!!
Someone should push to get some Aplines in a magazine just to show what all those Porsche people are missing.

I understand that the next one is with subscribers, so It'll be in the shops next week. I hear it has an article about rebuilding Renault Turbo motors (probably 21 or 5GT engines...).
Alpine A110, Renault Safrane 2.5dt, Hudson Kindred Spirit (Renault powered), transAlp (Honda) and Ducati Multistrada

No...youve missed the point....the GTA that was there wasnt one with a racing history, it was purely a road car. If I had turned up, or anyone else who competes in a GTA then they would have featured it....but as the cars were supplied by RTOC which has no GTA owners that compete (at all??) it was impossible!
