Unfortunately they are no use for anything apart from a replacement for a Clio V6 :(

There are loads of these about. Hence the bargain price!

Completely different block casting to PRV. Not interchangeable.

Non standard engine mounting points.

Gearbox transverse fit only and expensive. Prone to problems.

No adaptors readily available for different gearbox.

Limited tuning capability.

Requires custom exhaust & manifolds.

Routine cambelt change £600+ for parts only.

Full after market management required to make it run.

And several other points I've forgotten!

I've been in contact with the vendor a long time ago when I lived in brussels...... he's had these engines and the gearboxes to match over a year or so and not shifted one....... because they are from the Mk1 V6 Clio....225 bhp..... crap engine and box that's why they're so cheap.... don't go there if it was the mk2 255 bhp would be well worth a shot.

Nope, thats a VG35DE engine and this is an L7X.

Completely different.

The Vel Satis engine and the one in the Megane Racer is the Nissan lump though...

A nice Idea but a lot of work.....if you were to install it in a spider you would have to lengthen the rear end and your rear wheels would be several inches further back than they are now..... it's rather alot of hassle as you wouldn't gain much..... you're better off keeping the the 4pot and slapping some throttle bodies on it, I've heard it's possible to get above 250 BHP going this way but you would still need to do a bit of fibreglass adjustment to accomodate them, or you could turbo it if you're that way inclined which has been done, giving minor gains but nothing substantial.

I seem to remember a supercharger kit offered some years back for the 16v unit cant remember who by tho! Was fitted to a few Clio's wonder if it would bolt onto the spider assembly?

I would have thought it would fit in the Spider easily. Its transverse mount, shorter than the 4 pot and a narrow V so not very deep either.

There should be no reason to alter the bodywork or wheels.

The L7X engine is pukka spec. Good large twin ported heads, large valves, quad cam 4 valves per cylinder. 330bhp has been acheived with throttle bodies and wilder cams and remapped ecu, on a more or less standard engine, and its only 40 kgs heavier than the Spider engine..

it will fit..... but you will have to mount it further back to compensate for the exhaust manifold on the one side and also the whole thing is taller than the 4 pot so a new rear cover would need to be made.....

or just go all the way and stick a V8 in it...... Ferrari even...... about 30 of these were made for a series in japan..... and if you can find one.....they go for about £50K ish....

Nah, that wouldnt be a problem. Remember the manifold is tucked under the angle of the V, and the inlet manifold on the 2.0 16v sits a long way out of the back of the engine, further than the mild 60 degree angle of the L7X.

You could also incline the V6 forward towards the back of the car by a few degrees, to prevent any clearance problems..

The V6 is not as high as the 4 pot, it can't be obviously because of its design. :D

It would be a good conversion. You could even use the cheap version from the Laguna (200bhp/200lbft). Plenty on ebay for around £500....

The expensive bit is getting the custom 6 port manifolds fabricated.. :wink:
