Data logging is a nice idea but its costly and practice is more fun!!!!

why is it costly Peter.... do you mean to buy all the sensors and equipment etc? I have a system on one spider and it gives 4 to 8 channels and with the G sensors you can work out your line on the circuit even.....also with correct analysis see if your lifting off too early braking to early and also see how your engine is running also, as the instrument display in the spider isn't that user friendly and hard to keep your eyes on when speeding round a circuit. I think it's a valuable tool if used properly and with some people wanting to squeeze every last bit out of their car it could definately help you out with circuit racing.

Expensive to buy and set up the equipment. Ive no doubt it can be of assistance its just there are many other things to spend the money on!

Forget sensors and electronic gizmos, every car is different. Well pointed out, it should fit like a glove. I've driven on tracks in proper cars more times than i've had hot dinners, granted never in a GTA as they've either over heated or ultimately gone up in flames!

Practice, confidence, smoothness, control, heel and toe, respect for the throttle and when all that's mastered you can drive like the stig, who by the way is crap in the real world, i've never seen him do well in a race!

I'd love to take my GTA on the track when its fixed although do wonder about the whole weight distribution thing.

It's not the quickest car i've ever owned but as 'The Gentleman' pointed out, very adequate as regards to torque, they do pull extremely well with no real turbo lag and I've shamed many a fag driving a Boxter off the lights...until it would over heat that is .:(

Mr Jon....the Stig is actually two people...one of them is Perry McCarthy who made it to formula 1 having won quite a few things......just thought I'd be pedantic!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol:
I totally agree with you....all the gizmos dont make up for knowing your car, its amazing how many people I see at events in cars that are ropey but that theyve had forever and can use to turn in amazing performances.

280bhp :( im hoping for more than that depending on funds i know its going to be a lot of work to get over 300bhp(ecu,cams,headwork etc) but i will get there eventually

i never said anything has 280bhp i was just qouting what clee had said in the begining of this thread that 280bhp seems tops for the alpine engine why is it that if big power is ever mentioned people seem to get a bit touchy :x

You gave no indication that it was a quote and no explanation with it....I thought you were maybe talking about your father's TR8. Why were you quoting Clee's post...I thought we were onto data logging/knowing your car!
