Stripped Dash area...

All it needs is the whole floor area and bulkhead trimming in black carpet, remove all the centre console and ventilation unit, polished gear linkage tubes, pedal box and steering column, and a nice array of important gauges. :lol:

how much weight would you save by stripping it that far?

Not a great deal, but combined with some lightweight race seats, you will lose about 40-50kgs top from the front interior. Peter has already shown that stripping the back (still keeping the rear seats) can lose around 30-40kgs in sound deadening...

Im checking all this, so I know what im doing in the black car. Id like to put a cage in, but this is contra the weight lost...

i wouldnt have thought the alloy cage that you have on your site would weigh that much,just out of interest how much does it weigh?

i would luv to strip mine but the misses has said no :( because my last 5 gtt was stripped and she hated the booming noise on a long journey

Noise wouldnt be a problem on the GTA, theres not going to be anymore noise from the front, only the rear, and Ive been out in Peters car and its quite acceptable :D

Good thing with stripping it too with the column exposed, is I could extend the column to bring it closer to the driver.

Im still going to keep the door cards as is, but with carbon fibre inserts instead of the cloth hardboard. Roof lining and roof trims are staying.

The car is going to be stripped, but not inhospitable.

I have a mould for the A610 bonnet, so there is the option for a carbon fibre version as the bonnet weighs around 30kgs.

Ive been looking at the pedal assembly, and there shouldnt be a problem making it adjustable in location too.

Im going to try and relocate most of the wiring and fuseboard into the scuttle area in the front of the car. No wiring will be visible inside the car.

All combined with the 4cly engine should see around 900kgs kerb weight. :D

A nice lightweight bonnet would be good! It can join the list of things for you to do! I reckon we might see your car for the WSR...in 2007 :lol:

GTA stripping!

Took the rear subframe complete with engine and box out yesterday and have to say its much easier than doing the same thing on a 21 turbo. Interior also stripped except for dash - how much does the bloody sound proofing weigh! Just the big bit behind the seat must have weighed 15kg. I reckon the sound proofing and rear seat upright part weigh more than everything else in the interior put together! I'm going to attempt to cut the back arches off with a big angle grinder - incase I bump my track car! Also the front pillars are both perfect so will cut those out too. I think Simon wants the front floor ahead of the chassis too so there won't be much left!

:shock: I thought you were building a car not breaking one! Front pillars back arches, front floor???????????

hi david, how many earthing points are there inside the car?

i know of the two either side in the front foot wells. any others? :?

I'm doing both, breaking an Atmo building a turbo!

it's pretty much stripped out other than the dash panel!!

no, have electrical issues with the white atmo :roll:
