Obscure Alpines on telly

Postby darrenbiggs » Wed Jul 21, 2004 5:38 pm

If we are getting obscure then I'm going to suggest the following:

A single shot of an Alpine badged GTA parked on the driveway of Trude Mostrue (Vets in Practice) house in an early series - I assume it belonged to a housemate of hers?
Funny Rolf's narration didn't give it a single mention, the great man was obviously too busy with small animals that day

And much more interestingly a blue A610 competing in the Gumball rally a few years back. It is in the background of a few shots in the Ruby Wax "documentary" that was made and a few from Jackass - Johnny Knoxville was in it that year as well.
If anyone remembers, it was most notable for the VERY high speed crash by a white F355 Spider (border of Russia I think) where it finally landed in the field of a farmer whos yearly income is probably worth less than a 355 rear tyre. The two guys got out OK though, woo hoo for airbags.......

It's me, hey I'm infamous ( well nobody would claim any fame for Eldorado )

Yep, I own the A610, J370 KOR and it is in 'almost' original - had a few resprays along the way, some down to me and my trackdays.
It's Alpine Blue, velour seats ( leather makes noises and sound engineers hate it :) )

Only 20K on the clock and I put most of the last 10K on tracks :)

Currently off road while I try to track down the special tools to strip the heads - so if anyone knows of a set anywhere, drop me a line.

Any Eldorado fans are welcome to a sit in it as long as you promise to go for psychiatric help :)

Let me settle this argument once and for all. In Eldorado the car was a dark metallic blue A610 loaned by Renault UK. I spoke to the owner on the CAR UK stand at a car show at the NEC about 5 years ago who was trying to get information about it. He was Scottish!

The car in Howards Way was a metallic silver GTA Turbo and as far as I know is now owned by a member of the CAR club. It also featured in Alpine road tests in 'Classic Car' magazine.

Yes I know I should get out more as well!!!!

PPS I don't own an anorak!!!!

Howards Way GTA

Postby Martin Guard » Tue May 03, 2005 12:33 am

I've owned the 'Howards Way' Silver GTA Turbo since 1991. E99GLO The actor Stephen Yardley (Ken Masters) drove her around for her first two years. She's been used as everyday transport since then. Love her to bits! Our only tiff was the day I put my A110 on the road...she left home during that night and was found 100yds away down the lane with crocusses from the bank where she gently came to rest, stuffed up her exhaust! Spooky! She was featured in Classic Car Magazine June 98.and a couple of others since. Those awful Alpine door decals have now gone.
