Condensation

Has anyone else experienced condensation on the inside of the headlight glass covers? I seem to have it quite badly on both of mine, not sure how water is getting in there. Could be due to previous body repair to the front.

The only way I can see of cleaning the inside of the glass covers etc is to remove the headlights!
Anyone got an easier way of doing this?

Yes, think you have to remove the headlight units from inside the boot to clean inside there.

Just put your headlights on and don't worry about it! The heat from the bulbs should dry it out! :D

Condensation can get it from behind the headlamps and through. Ive had condensation on the bottom of my boot liner..

just blow lots of ait in to dry them out. hair dryer or output from vacuum cleaner. There might be enough room around the lights to get some flow in at the same time as using the lights to warm things up.

really need to find out how the water is getting in too.

The rain was getting insde my covers as the glass had not been properly sealed onto the body. I have since pulled them out and cleaned off the old rubber compound and put them back in using black rubber windscreen adhesive. Not a five minute job. I did this while I had the fuel tank out to stainless sleeve my brake and clutch master cylinders.

I had a similar problem a few years ago. However, after driving the car a few times with the headlights on, the moisture evaporated. It's gotta be worth a try! Alternatively, take the bulbs out and blow a hair dryer through the hole.

My old turbo failed it's MOT with a bad beam pattern thanks to steamy covers :evil: pedantic effers .I don't worry about it unless its MOT time ,the heat soon clears the prob and if I don't need the lights on it doesn't matter

Thanks for all the advice so far, it seems a bit more than just condensation though to tell the truth, I think water must be leaking in the top of the glass.
The trouble is all the water/ condensation has stained the glass so I think it could be a headlight assy out job :(
I will try to reseal the glass from inside but i really don't fancy taking off the nose cone just to sort this, (Ref, technical help) !!!
MOT is due in January and the lights do seem a bit dim, looks like they need repairing before MOT.
Really I just wondered if there was a common problem to look out for and rectify.

Mine get water in them everytime I was the dammed car! I use a small blower heater on the outside of the glass to get rid of it. The lights aren't sealed under the bonnet are they?
