It looks very old. Some really early ecus's had the cast casing and Bendix logo. Get some pics of inside and I can tell you. Prototype don't mean diddly :D

What gives you the idea its for a V6 turbo anyway?

Recently I rescued this ECU from being thrown away as junk. Apparently it was part of consignment which was put in storage back in 1990-91. In the consignment was a partially stripped GTA, a turbo and non-turbo V6 Renault engine and other bits belonging to the GTA. The GTA and bits were later sold and the GTA rebuilt. However the ECU could never be found and was presumed lost. - Until now maybe?

Not being a person who could ignorantly just throw something away, it prompted me to contact the experts (yes I mean you guys).

Maybe now its is just a worthless peice of junk and not worth saving?

Thats not similar to the inside of a GTA ecu at all...

or even a Clio, 19, 21, 25 etc....

Now I can see it closely, it doesnt look like the multiplug is the right kind either....

This is the inside of the GTA ecu, its a single layer board.

There are twin boards linked with ribbon cable but intrestingly, compairing with your photo the ICs in my ECU look like more modern surface mount devices rather than the DIL devices in yours. The only DIL devices are the EPROM (presumably containing the mapping) and ROM (top right of photo). I don't know if this is significant or not?

Here's a picture of the multiplug (sorry its a bit out of focus).

The GTA plug is only has 2 rows of 19 pins.

May not even be Renault...

This is a wiring diagram for that ecu. It is a late model (I was wrong saying it was old). Its a 55 pin AMP connector, mainly used on Volvos, Saabs etc...

Hi Paul

I have had a response from my contact in Toulouse regarding the ECU query.

This is his response: -

Type = This is a very old ECU for development used on Peugeot 3,0 litre 4 valves V6 engine (ZPJ4).
Which is not anymore in production. I think development started in Tlse in 87

Protocol = Sorry Nicky, I cannot answer. Most of project people have left the company or are in other divisions.
As far I remember, PSA has its own communication at this time based on K line.

I hope this answers the query.
