Heater Matrix leak (possibly) behind dash/stereo

Postby rogeralpine » Tue Jan 10, 2006 9:50 am

Wonder if anyone has had this problem and if so, if there'a any simple cure. (87E Alpine Turbo).

Tried to gain acccess but appears to be impossible to get to without major "structural" work!! #

Thanks in advance!

Complete dashboard and centre console out job.

You may be able to temporarily sort it with engine block crack sealer put into the coolant system, but it needs sorting really...

Thanks David - worst fears realised!!

So the dash has to be removed as well? :(

Looks like a job for the summer!!

Also, I noticed your link to the ART tuning site and noticed the ECU power module which I have always wondered about but never bothered with - mainly becasue at the time I was using the car frequently and was more concerned about wear and tear. As the car will only cover around a 1000 miles a year (tops - more like 500) and has only done 66k all in (87 E Turbo), the idea of upping the boost a bit has reared it's head again.

Are there any bits of advice you can give - would you really say it's a worthwhile "upgrade" and can the engine handle it Ok? Do you have rough performance figure gains you can post also?

Thanks for your time!

Its the best mod per pound. Big increase in midrange torque and overtaking power when the turbo kicks in. Adds around 40lbs of torque around 3000rpm, power should be around 230bhp on the road..
