Chargecooler kits

Postby David Gentleman » Mon Jan 16, 2006 6:47 pm

The first of my water cooled chargecooler kits have landed today, so here is a few pic of what is incorporated in the kit....

PeterG is the first to try it (replacing the 'turbo' pipe with the cooler unit)..

Image
11" x 9" x 1" Alloy water radiator (with 15mm inlet outlets)

Image
13" x 4" Watercooled chargecooler (57mm diameter inlet/outlets)

Image
Billet Aluminium water filler unit

Image
STANT Aluminium Lockable Header cap

Image
Bosch 12v 1250l/hr circulation pump

The kit also includes a 9" thermo fan that bolts to the front of the water radiator..

It does look like a very nice bit of kit...
I guess My A310s wouldn't gain any benefit from it

Still going to run the intercooler.......it will still help with cooling a bit! I'm not sure whether to mount the rad in the engine bay low down where the spare wheel went or in the front......once Ive got eveything I will decide.

Before and after tests

Postby Tony Smith » Tue Jan 17, 2006 4:05 pm

Be great if you could get a before and after rolling road figure. I mounted my rad ain my front spoiler and vented it, but its a different shape to that one. Be less laggy if you ditch the standard cooler but will have a lower charge temp if you keep it

If the charge cooler's efficient I would loop it to the throttle .Any additional cooling would be negated by the pressure drop methinks ...............
It would be easy to confirm, all you need is a U pipe to link the two .

Because of the length of the unit, if you fit a U bend, it will hit the rear screen, because of the long smooth radius needed of the bend..

Try both ,I think it should be poss to link direct somehow ,kink down, then bend :?: .The air is going through two restrictions if you leave the intercooler plumbed in ,might not matter much but it's a simple test
